3 Simple Ways To Support Someone Who’s Suffering

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.  So often, we don’t know how to approach our friends and family who might be suffering. We shy away from reaching out because we’re afraid, or we don’t think we have anything to contribute.

There are three things everyone can do to approach someone who’s suffering.

  1. Reach out.

  2. Listen.

  3. Be kind.

Every morning I reach out to one friend, family member or acquaintance that I know is struggling – whether it’s a chronic illness or something brief. It only takes a few minutes but it’s infinitely valuable.

Everyone KAN do something to help. Remember, you don’t have to be trained to be kind. Learn more about the Kindness Action Network (KAN) program at this link.
